Our Christmas Tree

This year our family bundled up and headed into the woods to select our Christmas tree. We trudged into the woods searching with great anticipation. It had snowed the night before and the branches of the trees were heavy with snow. The wind gusted a few times and we were pelted with cold wet clumps, it seemed as though the trees were having a snowball fight. We searched and searched and hummed and hawed over several trees and finely made our decision. Daddy cut it down and hauled it back down to the truck. Johanna decided to walk back to the truck and the boys wanted to ride in the sled. If you have ever tried to pull a sled through the woods you know this is no easy task. After a few dumps into the snow we made it back to the truck, paused for a few pictures and headed for home.

The children were so excited and could hardly wait to decorate the tree. Once the lights were in place the decorating commenced. They bustled back and forth from the tree to the couch where daddy sat and handed each eager little hand another ornament. They were so pleased and beaming with satisfaction when their task was completed.

Out tree is not perfect by any means. There are bare spots and some branches have more ointments then they can hold, but it is our tree and we love it. Just like each one of us we are not perfect and we all have bare spots and areas where we have too much, but we all belong to a loving Heavenly Father, we are His and He loves us. Remember this Christmas season is not about having the perfect tree or the most decorated house, it is about family and friends and the love that we share. It is about celebrating the greatest gift our loving Father in Heaven has given us, the birth of his only begotten son Jesus Christ. Who came to earth to teach us and provide an example for us, and to provide a way that we may be able to return and live with him forever. Merry Christmas.

Thanksgiving "07"

We had a wonderful thanksgiving this year. Jason deep fried our turkey, which the night before had been marinaded in a hickory smoke marinade. It was in my opinion the best turkey he has ever done, yum. He is becoming quite the Turkey frying pro. We had a great meal with all of the trimmings, which was fallowed by lots of dishes to wash, then we all retired to the couch for snoozing and some movies, National lampoons Christmas Vacation(Probably my all time favorite Christmas movie) and The Santa Clause 2, which Nathan has insisted in watching over and over again. We missed being with family for the holiday and hope all out friends and family had a great and thankful day.

The Great Elk Hunt "07"

Jason had the opportunity to hunt at a good friends house whose property borders Rocky Mountain National Park. He was so excited and grateful for the opportunity. Nathan was able to go with him and had the time of his life. It was a lot of work, we processed all of it ourselves, but it sure tastes good.
